From Trading to Tech, Shifting Gears in Unpredictable Times

Updated: Apr 23

I’m sitting in a Starbucks at K11 in downtown Shanghai, half-watching the crowds drift through the mall, half-staring into my laptop screen, wondering how to navigate this next chapter. My espresso's already gone cold, but my mind is still running hot with questions.

For years, my trading business was solid. It wasn’t flashy, but it was consistent, and in this world, that kind of stability is golden. But now? Everything’s changed. The recent tariffs and the erratic economic policies coming out of the United States, thanks in large part to Trump’s unbelievable maneuvers, have hit my sector harder than I could’ve anticipated. Orders have dried up, conversations that were once regular have gone radio silent. There’s tension in the air, and it’s not just political, it’s personal, financial, and deeply professional.

So now, I pivot.

I’ve always kept a foot in the tech world. Web development and 3D rendering have been my creative outlets for years, side gigs that I took on between shipments and supplier negotiations. But now they’re not side gigs anymore, they’re the main hustle. And I need more work. Fast.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve launched some targeted Facebook campaigns. They’ve boosted traffic to my company website, more eyes, more clicks, more movement. But so far, no real inquiries. I know these things take time, but let’s be real, time feels like a luxury right now.

So, if you’re reading this and you—or someone you know—needs clean, functional, modern web development, or sharp, detailed 3D rendering work for architecture, products, or marketing, I’m ready. I’ve got the skills, the experience, and the urgency to get things done right, and done fast.

I’m staying open, adaptable, and caffeinated.

New times call for new energy, and maybe a second espresso.
